A Hungarian MP has gone viral for his wild celebratory dance moves as autocratic Prime Minister Viktor Orban was defeated in a landslide. Zsolt Hegedüs danced with delight at the victory party held by Peter Magyar, the leader of the victorious centre-right Tisza party, as thousands took to the streets in Budapest to celebrate. The result is a major boost for western Europe, with Magyar much more pro-EU, Nato and Ukraine than Putin and Trump-allied strongman Orban.

Most polls favour Péter Magyar, who fronts a grassroots party, but PM Viktor Orbán has been in a defiant mood.

Magyar said Orban congratulated with a phone call after Sunday’s election.
