DUBAI: Senior officials from Oman and Iran met Sunday to discuss options to ensure a ‘smooth flow of transit through the Strait of Hormuz,’ which effectively remained shut after the war broke out on February 28. “A meeting was held between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the level of the undersecretaries of the foreign ministries of the two countries, attended by specialists from both sides,” Oman’s foreign ministry said on its account on X.

Iran and Oman are drafting a protocol to "monitor transit" through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported.
