The US is sending more than 1,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East as part of the ongoing conflict with Iran, the Pentagon has confirmed. This comes at a time when nearly 60% of Americans say that US military action in Iran has already gone too far, according to a new poll by AP-NORC. According to the poll, many Americans are more worried about being able to afford gasoline than they are about replacing the Iranian regime with one more favourable to US interests. Only around 3 in 10 people consider it a crucial foreign policy objective for the US to replace Iran’s government with one that is more sympathetic to American interests.

Nearly half of Americans polled also said they are “extremely” or “very” concerned about being able to afford gas in the next few months.

The U.S. is deploying 1,000 elite troops to West Asia amid escalating tensions and military actions involving Iran and Israel.
