WASHINGTON: Joe Kent, the top US security official who resigned over the war in Iran, is under an FBI investigation for allegedly leaking classified information, Semafor reported on Wednesday citing three sources. The investigation pre-dates his departure as the head of the National Counterterrorism Center on Tuesday, Semafor added. The FBI declined to comment on the report when contacted by Reuters.

"Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation," Kent wrote in his letter to President Donald Trump.

National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent says Trump "started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby".
