French state's deficit dropped by 20% in 2025 thanks to strong tax revenues

The French state spent €125 billion more than it collected in revenue in 2025, the French Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on Tuesday, representing €31.6 billion less than in 2024. The smaller deficit was explained almost entirely by higher-than-expected tax revenues, while expenditures remained virtually unchanged.
