The court injunction bars federal agents from detaining or retaliating against peaceful protesters or observers.

The ruling prohibits officers from detaining individuals when there is no reasonable suspicion that they are obstructing or interfering with the operation.

Safely following agents “at an appropriate distance does not, by itself, create reasonable suspicion to justify a vehicle stop,” the ruling said.

The legal order comes ahead of planned weekend protests and counter protests in the city amid ongoing immigration enforcement actions.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers can't use "crowd dispersal tools" against nonviolent protesters while enforcing federal immigration laws.
