Nearly 16,000 nurses set to join union-led strike Monday to demand large hospitals across NYC ‘put patients over profit’

Nearly 15,000 nurses could walk off the job early Monday if a deal is not reached, amounting to the largest nurses strike in city history.

Strike, amid an intense flu season, is expected to disrupt activity at institutions such as Mount Sinai and Montefiore

About 15,000 nurses in New York City are on strike on Monday as the deadline passes for the state's union to agree to a new contract with facilities.

The strike, which comes during a severe flu season, could potentially force the hospitals to transfer patients, cancel procedures or divert ambulances.

Nurses were joined by elected leaders, including the city’s new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, as contract negotiations failed.
