Syria says impossible to move forward in talks without clear binding timeline for Israeli withdrawal
A Syrian official said on Tuesday it would not be possible to move forward on “strategic files” in talks with Israel without a clear, binding timeline for Israeli troops to quit Syrian territory seized after Bashar Assad’s fall in December 2024. The official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said the latest round of US-brokered talks in Paris, held on Monday and Tuesday, concluded with a US initiative to suspend all Israeli military activities against Syria. Israel’s defense ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the issue.
