The December survey shows 84% believe President Trump will tap Hassett, director of the National Economic Council, to head the central bank.

President Donald Trump said Friday that Kevin Warsh has moved to the top of his list as the next Federal Reserve chair, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Warsh's odds jumped to as high as 40% after Trump told the Wall Street Journal that Warsh has risen to the top of his list to be the next chair of the Fed.

“I think the two Kevins are great,” he said. “I think there are a couple of other people that are great.”

There's concern that the National Economic Council director is too close to the president.
