The federal civil complaint against Justice and his wife alleged that they “neglected" notices demanding payments of unpaid federal income taxes and penalties.

Sen. Jim Justice and his wife, Cathy Justice, agreed to pay $5 million in unpaid federal income taxes Tuesday.

The West Virginia Republican and coal magnate has previously called the collection attempts "politically motivated".
