BUDAPEST: Hungary is the only country where a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine can be sealed, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Thursday in a speech marking the anniversary of Hungary’s 1956 anti-Soviet uprising. Plans for a summit in Budapest between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have been postponed. Orban also said that Ukraine “has for long not been a sovereign country,” and reiterated that he does not want Ukraine to become a member of the European Union but the bloc should enter into a special relationship with it instead.
