The initial priority sites for development are expected to be Tempsford in Bedfordshire, Leeds South Bank, and Crews Hill in north London. A total of 12 new towns will also be advanced, each designed to include at least 10,000 homes, contributing to a collective goal of 300,000 new houses across England. Reed will advocate for at least 40 per cent of these new homes to be affordable, supporting Labour's broader commitment to build 1.5 million new homes. Labour intends to establish a 'New Towns Unit' to drive development, drawing lessons from post-war housing booms and the regeneration of Stratford, east London.
