MEXICO CITY: Two more people have died of injuries sustained in a major gas truck explosion in Mexico City last week, bringing the death toll to 21, local authorities said Thursday. The truck was carrying nearly 50,000 liters of fuel when it overturned and blew up while traveling through the city’s eastern Iztapalapa district. Twenty-seven people are still being treated in hospital. The truck’s tank ruptured in the crash, allowing the gas to escape and ignite. Investigators say the accident was likely the result of speeding.
