What country brutally assassinates people with whom it is negotiating for the release of its hostages, as they meet to discuss a U.S.-brokered deal that would also end the war? And does so on the soil of one of the two permanent mediators since October 7 that not only helped put together previous deals but also hosted, in the same city, teams from both sides?
