Japan ‘strongly condemns’ Israel attack, expresses solidarity with Qatar

TOKYO: Japan’s government has condemned Israel for its attack on Hamas officials in Qatar. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said on Wednesday that Tel Aviv’s action undermines diplomatic peace efforts “and threatens Qatar’s sovereignty and security, and ultimately the stability of the region. Our country strongly condemns this.” Hayashi added that “serious diplomatic efforts are being made” to resolve the crisis. “Achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages are urgent issues,” he said.
