The governing Pheu Thai party has nominated former Attorney General Chaikasem Nitisiri.

The People’s Party has demanded that any government it helps form must dissolve parliament within four months to hold a snap election.

People’s Party moves into king-making role as Pheu Thai and arch-conservatives work to secure its support for their prime minister candidate.

The decision came after the People’s Party said it will back tycoon Anutin Charnvirakul’s bid to form a new government.

Move comes days after Thai court removed Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from office.
