Exactly one year ago, Israeli soldiers operating in Rafah, the Gaza Strip's southernmost city, found an abandoned tunnel with six bodies inside of it. The bodies were taken to Israel and within hours, identified as six hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7: Carmel Gat, Ori Danino, Eden Yerushalmi, Alex Lobanov, Almog Sarusi and dual Israeli-American citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin. They had been murdered only days before the soldiers' arrival.
