Downpours will hit western parts of the UK on Saturday, while up to 30-40mm of 'persistent' rain could be seen in some areas across the day, the Met Office has said.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for southern England and Wales with up to 70mm (2.8in) of rain set to fall between 10pm today and 12pm tomorrow.

Downpours will hit western parts of the UK on Saturday, while up to 30-40mm of 'persistent' rain could be seen in some areas across the day, the Met Office has said.

The unsettled conditions are expected to continue through Sunday and into next week.
