WASHINGTON: The Trump administration on Friday reversed course and agreed to leave the Washington, D.C., police chief in control of the department, while Attorney General Pam Bondi, in a new memo, directed the District’s police to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement regardless of any city law. The order from Bondi came after officials in the nation’s capital sued Friday to block President Donald Trump’s takeover of the Washington police.

Officers can now share information about undocumented people they encounter during traffic stops.

Attorney General Pam Bondi rolled back several policies that previously curtailed officers’ ability to work with federal immigration agents.
