The United States needs and wants a stronger Europe. Western allies, the democratic and free countries of the world, need and want a stronger and more united Europe. “Europe must finish what it started 75 years ago” with the 1950 declaration proposed by Robert Schuman which laid the foundation of the European Union. “We, the United States, the free and democratic world, we need a truly united Europe and a stronger European defense”: Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorganChase, for the past twenty years has been head of the biggest bank in the United States and the largest bank in the world by market capitalization. In this exclusive interview with IlSole24Ore, held in Rome during his latest European tour that also touched Bruxelles, Beriln and Dublin , he spoke like a fervent European. Dimon launched what sounded like an appeal to European citizens, politicians, bankers, entrepreneurs: “I hope for a more united and stronger Europe that, through the completion of reforms, greater deregulation, and rapid and effective decision-making processes suitable for a world in constant change, can continue to grow and innovate: it will be beneficial primarily for European citizens, for the European economies in all EU countries”, he said, adding that “Europe must have a united stronger defense. The democratic world needs a military alliance between the US, Europe, Japan, South Korea, Australia: this is the backbone of the free democratic world”.
