The foreign ministers of the U.K., France and Germany will tell their Iranian counterpart on Friday that the U.S. is open to direct talks, even as it considers joining Israeli strikes intended to smash Tehran's nuclear capacity, diplomats said before a meeting in Geneva.

The meeting in Geneva would be the first face-to-face diplomatic communication with Iran since Israel’s attack

The meeting comes as European countries call for de-escalation in the face of Israel’s bombing campaign against Iran’s nuclear programme.
