New York Times reporter Helene Cooper says she spoke to retired U.S. Army officials and Marine generals who are "very worried" about Saturday's parade.

“I haven’t even heard about a protest,” at the Saturday event in Washington celebrating the Army, he said, but “this is people that hate our country.”

The weekend event coincides with the birthday of the US president, who has deployed troops to LA amid unrest over immigration raids.

The massive event in Washington comes as the president faces backlash for deploying troops to quell anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.
