Rep. LaMonica McIver was indicted on federal charges by the U.S. Justice Department for her alleged actions outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in May.

The New Jersey Democrat has defended her presence at the facility as part of her authorized role as a member of Congress.

The counts against LaMonica McIver stem from an altercation at a Newark detention center. McIver has denied all wrongdoing.
