BRUSSELS (Reuters) -The European Commission set out plans on Wednesday to remove barriers to business within the European Union as part of a push to boost competitiveness and counteract the impact of U.S. tariffs. The International Monetary Fund has estimated that internal EU barriers are equivalent to tariffs of 44% for goods and 110% for services, far higher than the import duties set by U.S. President Donald Trump. However, it will rely on EU member states themselves to adopt laws and follow recommendations to open up sectors that are dominated by domestic vested interests.
