Epic Games, the developer of the popular Fortnite game, has won a high-profile court battle against Google over anti-competitive practices in the latter’s app store.

The US games designer had accused the tech group of charging “exorbitant fees” to app developers and stifling competition through its app store guidelines.

Epic claimed that Google illegally tied together its app store and billing service, forcing app developers to use both and subsequently pay fees of up to 30 per cent to Google.

It filed the lawsuit, alongside one against Apple, when both companies banned Epic from their app stores in a row over payment options in 2020.
