The Open champion Cameron Smith has said that he hopes Greg Norman stays in his role as LIV Golf’s leader as talks continue behind the scenes to thrash out a peace agreement.
Smith was disgruntled a year ago when asked in his champion’s press conference at St Andrews if he was intending to move to the start-up tour, which had only staged two events at the time. In the end he did in a deal believed to be worth more than $100 million (£76.4 million) and now he insists that he feels he is a better player as a result.
Norman, the LIV Golf chief executive, will welcome Smith’s backing after Ron Price, the PGA Tour’s chief operating officer, last week appeared before the US
