hoji Morimoto has no friends and no job. Nor does he want them. Instead, this 35-year-old Tokyo resident is a “rental person who does nothing”. What on earth — you may very reasonably wonder — is that?

A few years ago Morimoto gave up his job as a copywriter after his boss called him a “permanent vacancy”. He was bad at communicating, bad at operating within a community and bad at being what we might think of as a normal person.

Instead he decided to offer his services as a rental person, available for hire to do just about anything, but in his own neutral, quiet, non-committal sort of way (thus the “does nothing” bit). This service operates primarily via Twitter.
