illions of pensioners are missing out on the full state pension because of gaps in their national insurance record and admin errors.
In the last financial year pensioners were underpaid by £580 million because of mistakes made by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Others don’t get the full amount because they do not have a full national insurance record.
The full state pension is worth £203.85 a week (£10,600 a year) for anyone who has reached state pension age since April 2016. Under what is known as the triple lock guarantee, the amount you get rises each year in line with whichever of these is highest: inflation, as measured by the consumer prices index, average increase in wages, or 2.5 per cent.
