A majority of Scots believe the economy is going in the wrong direction and major policy changes are needed, according to research published today.

The results of the poll by Future Economy Scotland, a non-partisan think tank, also highlighted concerns that wealth is too concentrated.

Some 81 per cent of respondents felt too few people controlled too much of the nation’s wealth.

There were 60 per cent who expressed concern that the Scottish economy is not on the right path with 74 per cent of those advocating for “major changes” to be made. Just 2 per cent felt the economy was progressing well and did not see the need for policy change.
