Jury selection is set to begin Tuesday in a lawsuit filed by writer E. Jean Carroll against former President Donald Trump, whom the advice columnist accused of raping her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s.
Ms. Carroll, a longtime columnist for Elle magazine, has accused Mr. Trump of sexually assaulting her in the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City, then insulting her when denying the allegations last year. She is seeking damages and a retraction from Mr. Trump for her battery and defamation claims.
