Lifeguards in one Southern California city are being hailed as heroes after rescuing a small dog who ended up in the ocean and swimming away from shore.
Video posted to social media shows a Long Beach lifeguard holding a small white dog steady on their board while the animal shivers from the cold.
The incident happened on Saturday around 6pm when officials received a call about a small dog running around a lot in the area. Upon arrival, they found the pup in the ocean.
That's when one lifeguard did not hesitate to put on his suit and jump into action, rescuing the pup and bringing him back to shore safely.
'Long Beach lifeguards are heroes. Cheers,' one person on Facebook wrote.
