When we bought our bungalow 11 years ago, there were two air conditioning units fitted (in 2001). One is in our conservatory but unused — we will have it removed when the conservatory is upgraded early next year. We contacted Octopus Energy about installing an air source heat pump. They carried out an online survey using phones and cameras to check our property was suitable. Having passed this, an engineer carried out a full detailed survey and we came up with agreed plans. We paid our deposit and waited for an installation date. On September 23 Octopus informed us that we would need planning permission because we have already got two air conditioning units fitted.
