Bitcoin traded at roughly $77,400 as of European morning hours Tuesday, unchanged over 24 hours but down about 3% from the $79,530 it touched overnight, and lower by more than 1% on the week, according to CoinDesk data.XRP was the standout at more than 2% higher to $1.41, with zcash up nearly 3% to about $1,149. Ether, BNB, tron, hyperliquid's HYPE and dogecoin all slipped by less than 1%, and solana was flat at just above $101. Over seven days dogecoin is down 7%, HYPE 5% and BNB 3%.The Senate holds a procedural vote later Tuesday on the Clarity Act, the bill that would split oversight of digital assets between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The vote decides whether the bill advances to debate rather than passing it.Brian Vieten, senior research analyst at Siebert Financial, argued the outcome matters less than traders assume."We think the market is a bit too focused on whether Clarity passes," he said in an email to CoinDesk. A failure would leave U.S. firms operating under the current SEC and CFTC approach, which Vieten said could pull product launches and tokenization work forward into 2027 and 2028 rather than shelving them.Sixty votes are needed to advance it. That count is the first hard number on how much Senate support the bill actually has.
