President Donald Trump rejected calls for AI regulation on Monday and attacked Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, arguing the only oversight the technology needs is a capable president. "The only control or 'guardrails' that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump singled out Amodei by name, writing that his administration "has stopped AI 'people' from doing bad, or potentially bad, 'things,' like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a 'perfect little angel.'" He also claimed the administration already holds "tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies" and described opposition to AI and data centers as "a SICK conspiracy" that benefits China.
