Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google $GOOGL have been holding discussions about creating a shared AI industry standards body, with representatives from the three companies meeting on a working-group basis since at least July, according to The Information. The group met as recently as last week, one person familiar with the matter told the outlet.

Those talks were already underway before Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published his Saturday essay urging coordination on AI testing and auditing, and before a former Anthropic researcher publicly quit, citing concerns that leading AI companies were failing to act responsibly, according to CNN. The discussions are ongoing with or without the support of the Trump administration, CNN reported.
