The results of the Swedish national elections show a slight lead for the center-left opposition over the right-wing government. According to what was communicated by the polling stations, the left-wing bloc, led by the Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson, is expected to win 176 seats in the Swedish parliament, the Riksdag, which has 349 seats, based on votes from 6,195 of the 6,312 Swedish constituencies.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's right-wing government bloc is expected to win 173 seats, with vote counting still underway and final results not expected before Wednesday. The elections, while unlikely to change Sweden's pro-Western and pro-Ukrainian orientation, could decide whether Kristersson's push for a tough right-wing stance on immigration will continue or even accelerate. Given the tight competition, the winner may not be known for several days, after all ballots from abroad have been counted.
