Considering the quality of the Houston Texans defense, this was arguably the best game Josh Allen has ever played. He’s such a fantasy dynamo. He had a four-touchdown day, two via the ground (one on a 21-yard dash). He also threw for 334 yards, at a clip of 11.5 yards per attempt. He now has 81 career rushing TDs. His 51 games with a rushing and passing TD is an NFL record.The Dalton Kincaid brigade is lighting up stogies. Enjoy, my friends. More important than the 130 receiving yards, perhaps, were the 73 percent snaps. I felt his limits as an inline blocker would continue to limit his opportunities on a team that prioritizes the run. James Cook had a bad day, so maybe that’s the price you pay. I personally would gladly pay it, but I live for the passing game. The Buffalo Bills haven’t been willing to. Will this be the plan against a normal opponent? It’s too soon to know. I can’t abide by going 5 feet out of your way to play Justin Herbert in one-QB leagues until he shows the form we expected and that he has adapted to his new offense. This offense was designed for a QB with a weak arm. Is this a round hole for a square peg?Arizona’s Trey McBride is money in the bank (9/95/1), but it was a bad day for Marvin Harrison backers, as he was targeted just three times, catching one pass for 33 yards.Neither offense looked good in the Washington Commanders’ matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, though Commanders rookie receiver Antonio Williams caught my eye. It was a rough day for Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin managers. God help you if you stacked them. In one big league, I picked Caleb Williams over Daniels because the Commanders just scared me and who knows who the real Daniels is. I like the early returns. I ended up dropping Daniels well below industry consensus in my final preseason rankings, but it was still way too high.The Eagles’ offense was basically Jalen Hurts to Dallas Goedert. There were flashes from Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith, but nothing to get you too excited.This was the day we wanted from the unleashed Green Bay Packers passing game. But they couldn’t hold a lead against a backup QB because they have no running game without Jacobs. I did not envision Matthew Golden leading the Packers in targets (12). You should start Golden in Week 2 if you play in a league that is even remotely deep.The Minnesota Vikings lost Kyler Murray early, and he’s in danger of missing multiple weeks given the symptoms he exhibited of a severe concussion. Backup Carson Wentz executed the plan of throwing the ball to Justin Jefferson, who had his best game since Sam Darnold left town.The Las Vegas Raiders–Miami Dolphins game looked like a battle of running backs, but Ashton Jeanty pantsed De’Von Achane. Jeanty followed up his five receiving TDs of 2025 with two more in Week 1 — I didn’t think the five from last year would be remotely predictive. The takeaway from Miami is that rookie Caleb Douglas (5-94) looks like the WR to get in Miami.Early games: Caleb Williams MVP? He tied for second last year among all players with the most runs over 20 mph, according to Next Gen Stats. But he’s been mostly a play extender and not a runner. Sunday, he was a true multi-threat player with 65 rushing yards and a pair of TD runs, both from distance and displaying his elite speed.
