CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Chicago Bears outslugged the Carolina Panthers 59-37 in the highest-scoring season opener in NFL history Sunday at Bank of America Stadium.With 96 combined points, the Bears and Panthers shattered the previous mark for an opener — the 88 points posted in a 48-40 Tampa Bay win over New Orleans in 2018. The Bears set a franchise record for points in an opener, besting a 45-7 win over the Packers in 1948.Quarterback Caleb Williams led the Bears to eight touchdowns. He passed for two and rushed for two. Running back D’Andre Swift also rushed for three scores, and Kyle Monangai had a 61-yard TD run.
