Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to cease drone strikes on Russian oil refineries, citing worsening diesel shortages across Russia.

Ukraine has conducted more than 60 strikes on at least 24 Russian refineries, aiming to raise the economic cost of the war.

Russia has extended its ban on diesel exports through to the end of September amid fuel shortages and long queues reported in Russian cities.

Mr Trump has been unable to fulfil his campaign pledge to end the Russia-Ukraine war within 24 hours, with the conflict remaining a bitter stalemate.
