They also said bilateral ties should be viewed from a strategic and long-term perspective.China and India are partners, not rivals, Xi said, and the two countries present opportunities for each other's development rather than threats, according to Xinhua.The leaders welcomed progress in India-China relations since their last meeting in Tianjin in August 2025.According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Modi stressed that “differences should not become disputes” and that both sides should be guided by “mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest.”China will take over the BRICS chairship in 2027 and host the 19th BRICS Summit.
