United States President, Donald Trump, has said he believes the war with Iran could come to an end soon, suggesting that the conflict may be winding down despite a series of recent military confrontations between Washington and Tehran.
According to Aljazeera, Trump made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Dublin, Ireland, where he linked the possible end of the conflict to the November US midterm elections.
“I think very soon. I think it’ll be probably right after the mid-terms. They’re trying to hold out as long as they can to complicate the election. But I think people are wise to it,” Trump told reporters.
He also predicted that global oil prices would fall sharply once the conflict ends, citing the potential impact of an end to the military confrontation on energy markets.
