McLaren's Lando Norris celebrates winning the pole after the final qualifying session of the Spanish Formula One Grand Prix.
Lando Norris claimed a spectacular pole position for McLaren with a stunning late lap to pip championship leader Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes in the final seconds of a tense qualifying session for the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday.
World champion Norris, who missed most of Friday's second practice session due to an enforced gearbox change, topped the standings with a time of 1:31.824, edging the 20-year-old Italian by just 0.011 seconds.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished third, 0.140 seconds adrift, ahead of the Ferrari duo of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, with George Russell taking sixth in the second Mercedes.
Oscar Piastri placed seventh in the second McLaren ahead of Liam Lawson (Red Bull), Franco Colapinto (Alpine), and Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad.
