The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has published an official notification for the development, widening, and improvement of a critical stretch of National Highway 748A, spanning from kilometre 273.4 to 331.33 in Raichur district.Announcing the development on Saturday (September 12), G. Kumar Naik, Raichur MP, stated that the notification was issued following sustained efforts and direct meetings with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.”I have been in continuous contact with the Ministry as the alignment for Package 7 of the Belagavi–Raichur National Highway had been pending for a long time. With the notification now published, the development, widening, and improvement work will commence once the required land acquisition is completed,” Mr. Naik said.Highlighting the project’s impact, the MP noted that upgrading the highway would boost trade, ease goods transportation, and provide direct, seamless connectivity between major commercial hubs. He added that officials from the department concerned have been instructed to maintain high construction quality and implement design measures to minimise accidents.Expressing his gratitude to the Union Minister, Mr. Naik stated that he would continue to urge the Centre to construct necessary underpasses, service roads, and bypasses along the route.
