adsThe African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to urgently address delays in the production and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), warning that administrative bottlenecks must not disenfranchise registered voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Friday signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, its National Publicity Secretary, the ADC called for a clear nationwide timetable showing when and where newly registered voters would collect their PVCs, particularly in the Northwest where delays have raised concerns.
“You cannot register Nigerians to vote and then make them run from office to office searching for the card that enables them to exercise that right. Registration without access to a PVC is disenfranchisement by another route,” the ADC said.
The party urged INEC to publish state-by-state figures on newly registered voters, PVCs produced and distributed, outstanding cards and designated collection centres.
The ADC also called for intensified public awareness campaigns and decentralised collection arrangements to remove logistical and bureaucratic barriers.
