Gal Gadot brought a taste — and the unmistakable sound — of Rosh Hashanah to American late-night television Thursday, teaching talk show host Jimmy Kimmel about the Jewish New Year before the pair attempted a shofar duet, while musical guest MUNA later said it had not been told the Israeli actress would be appearing and posted a “Free Palestine” message.
Appearing on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to promote her new thriller, “The Runner,” Gadot arrived prepared for the holiday, discussing apples and honey, gefilte fish and the significance of hearing the shofar.
Gadot explained that the tradition is to hear the shofar to “awaken the soul” ahead of the new year.
The pair then produced two shofars, one considerably larger than the other. Gadot said one had been borrowed from her rabbi, then went first.
“It doesn’t sound great, but I did it,” she joked after managing a blast.
