BBC viewers will be able to see a huge tribute to Dolly Parton tonight as stars honour the legend during the Last Night of the Proms09:33, 12 Sep 2026Updated 09:36, 12 Sep 2026Dolly Parton will be celebrated by the BBC Proms tonight.‌The legendary singer died last month at the age of 80 and now the Last Night of the Proms will honour her in style. Two of the biggest stars of the stage - Sheridan Smith and Beverley Knight - are among those who will be paying tribute at London's Royal Albert Hall.‌BBC Breakfast broadcast a segment on the event during the show on Saturday, September 12 when presenter Charlie Stayt announced: "This year's BBC Proms will finish in style tonight with a tribute to Dolly Parton."‌He continued: "The Country singer died last month aged 80 after a brief battle with cancer." Co-host Naga Munchetty added: "Stars including Sheridan Smith and Beverley Knight will perform some of her greatest hits during the special show at the Royal Albert Hall."Meanwhile, singer and West End star Beverley took to Instagram ahead of the concert, which will be broadcast on BBC One tonight (September 12). She said: "Very much looking forward to playing a part in the celebration of not only one of the greatest singer songwriters of all time, but almost one of the most beloved humans. An incredible lady. Dolly I will do my best for you."‌Beverley and Sheridan will join Ward Thomas and the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and the BBC Singers for the very special tribute on the last night of the annual music celebration. Arranged by Fiona Brice, To Dolly, With Love brings together some of Dolly’s most beloved songs, including 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You and Jolene.The peformance will be hosted by Katie Derham and Celebrity Traitors favourite Nick Mohammed. Conducted by Sakari Oramo, returning for his fifth Prom this summer, with pianist Yuja Wang, the concert will feature tenor Nicky Spence who celebrates his homeland with a rousing medley of Scottish songs.There will also be a rendition of Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat from the hit musical Guys and Dolls and performances of Holst's Jupiter and all the Last Night traditions, from Land of Hope and Glory to Auld Lang Syne‌There have been many tributes to Dolly in the weeks following her death including one show put on to mark her life by the Grand Ole Opry, a regular live country-music radio broadcast originating from Nashville.In an emotional celebration of her life, the Opry dedicated its regularly scheduled Saturday night show to her and honoured her impressive career and impact on the genre.Article continues belowAmong those paying tribute with a performance on the night was Carly Pearce, who got her start at Dollywood and was personally invited by Dolly to become an Opry member in 2021. Others performing included Ketch Secor, Molly Tuttle and Dan Tyminski.The Jolene singer died on Tuesday, August 25, following what her representatives described as a "brief battle" with cancer.
