adsTobi Amusan will lead a nine-member Nigerian team into the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest, Hungary, as the world’s leading athletes compete for a record $10 million prize fund and a new global title.
The three-day championships, running from September 11 to 13, will bring together some of the biggest names in athletics, with Nigeria hoping its star-studded contingent can convert strong individual credentials into medals and a share of the lucrative prize money.
Amusan anchors Nigeria’s medal ambitions
Former world champion Amusan is at the centre of Nigeria’s medal hopes. The world-class hurdler will compete in the women’s 100m hurdles semi-final, where she faces a strong field that includes Devynne Charlton, Danielle Williams, Alia Armstrong and Keni Harrison.
Amusan will also feature in Nigeria’s mixed 4x100m relay team, giving her multiple opportunities to challenge for a podium finish in Budapest.
