The Buffalo Bills may not expend a practice squad elevation on a return specialist in Week 1 after all.When the Bills added veteran Greg Dortch to their practice squad on August 31, the former Arizona Cardinal seemed destined to hold punt return duties for Buffalo's September 13 season opener against the Houston Texans.Head coach Joe Brady, however, created some doubt when addressing a throng of reporters after Friday's practice in Orchard Park. It's possible that the Bills decide that Dortch is not yet ready to contribute on offense, and therefore not worthy of a Week 1 call-up."It is hard to have a guy up on gameday if he only has one role. "I was Top 10 last year in the league, punt return average. I'm an exciting player."Dortch averaged 11.6 yards per return for the Cardinals last season, but it was his ball security and decision making that allowed him to stand out."I would say I'm smart. I make a lot of right decisions. I take care of the ball. Those are the main two things I feel like are very important. I'm not giving the ball away, and I'm smart," said Dortch.Greg Dortch has value on offense, tooOnce he learns enough about the Bills' offense, Dortch should prove useful in that phase of the game as a gadget player if nothing else.The need for an acclamation period is lessened by Dortch's familiarity with Bills' wide receivers coach Drew Terrell. They're able to kind of get him up to speed," said Brady.The 5-foot-7 receiver has 145 catches over 68 career appearances.
