Wendell Cruz / Imagn ImagesSept. 11, 2026 Updated 9:55 pm EDTNEW YORK — A fan waving a Palestine flag ran onto the field at 9:11 p.m. ET on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 on Friday at Yankee Stadium and was quickly tackled and detained by security.The fan entered the field of play from the left-field seats and sprinted toward center field, evading several police officers and stadium security for a few seconds before being detained in the outfield grass.After officials escorted him from the field beyond the center-field wall, fans seated above the New York Mets’ bullpen showered him with beer cans. They booed him out of the stadium before the crowd erupted in unison with “USA” chants.

The Mets had the bases loaded with leadoff hitter Francisco Lindor up in a 3-2 count and two outs, with the Yankees leading 5-2.
