Tory grandee Michael Gove has offered to help SNP ministers turn around Scotland’s schools by teaching them lessons from England.
The former UK education secretary said children had ‘paid the price’ for ‘ideological fads’ and growing classroom indiscipline under the SNP.
But Scottish schools could ‘recover their reputation for excellence’ if the party changed course, the Aberdonian peer wrote in The Times.
He said: ‘All it will take is a wee bit of humility on the part of the Scottish Government.’
Education Secretary Màiri McAllan did not reject the offer out-of-hand but said meeting an ‘architect of Tory austerity’ was ‘not at the top’ of her list.
